Golden Fleece in bronze

Golden Fleece in bronze

This guy comes from being spotted in the Museum of Fine Arts in Belgium. I got excited, loved the droopy form and then started spotting him everywhere. After some research I found out the charm comes from the Order of the Golden Fleece, an order of knighthood founded in 1430 in Bruges.

The charm appears through history on a lot of fancy looking men through Europe and I’ve been enjoying the controversy over the choice of a Golden Fleece as a symbol of Christian order, for associations both with Jason, and in a Pagan context, where fleeces are associated with magic.

I’m taking that context for this lil guy and send him out into the world to reappropriate its cause, find a new nobleman to take it on, and bring some magic. (until I get hunted down by the order).

Hand moulded, carved and cast from wax to bronze- designs may have small slight differences due to the nature of hand moulding/carving each one.

Different loop- twisted the other way.
