Objects, artefacts, souvenirs.
An experiment involving the ancient lost wax process of metal making, hand carving or moulding wax designs and casting in metal.
For a period at the end of 2020 in isolated rural Shropshire, using bizarre youtube led methods (and a bit of a dangerous way to microwave metal) I self taught myself the historical methods to produce work, from wax carving-spruing-investing-meltout-burnout-metal melting to the final cast pour.
Now living in London, and understanding the process, the pieces are carved or moulded by hand, externally cast, then sent back to me where I do the final grinding, polishing and finishing.
Still learning, these first pieces may not be perfect but are a start in transforming ideas into something solid- exploring history, pop culture, the unusual and the imagined, into metalwork.

AFFORDABILITY SCHEME
(October 16th, 2024)
I’m changing my pricing. It’s been a long time coming and a slow snakey increase, but sadly costs of metal and living have hugely gone up, and this is all I can do at the moment to live off, and being a lil business right now is scary, so it’s coming with a change. Prices will go up here on the site BUT there is a more affordable option, if you struggle with the pennies, are on low income or just want to use it, you can use the code GROAT at checkout and get a half price discount- this will keep prices as they are now. I’m not monitoring or checking who uses this, it’s for those who need, and those who want. For markets the prices will stay relatively the same. My prices have only ever reflected the time and costs it takes to individually work on every single little bit of metal and with carving, casting, grinding, polishing, finishing, packaging, sometimes I’m vastly underselling myself, as a lot of other small businesses do. These pieces are so special to me, and should last a very very long time, and I love making them. I’m truly thankful for all the feedback and love I’ve had over the last few years, and will see how this change goes ❣ thank you!
